Welcome!

Our Mission

Building Our Families exists to be a strong advocate for families and to promote the health of our community by supporting and educating families to meet their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.

Our Story

Founded in 2018 through the vision of Carol Weber and Living Word Church, Building Our Families began as a grassroots effort to support local families in crisis. A board of compassionate community members formed to lead the initiative, seeking support from area churches and organizations. Today, our board has grown—and we are actively inviting new members who share our passion for protecting children and strengthening families.

Why We Exist

One of the most traumatic experiences a child can face is being removed from their home and placed in foster care. This type of disruption can have lifelong consequences—including impaired brain development, emotional and behavioral issues, and increased risks of poverty, incarceration, addiction, and suicide.

Our work is built on the belief that strong families prevent child maltreatment, and every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and whole within their family.

What We Do

Building Our Families is an innovative, community-based program that brings together wraparound support services to stabilize families, prevent foster care placements, and help children heal from trauma.

Through emergency housing, case management, supervised visits, and trauma-informed care, we walk alongside families navigating crisis and work toward restoration, reunification, and resilience.
